How do I create a SQUIDS account?
Visit squids.co.za and follow the sign-up flow. Enter your email, choose a unique username, set a display name, and create a password. A verification link will be sent to your email address. You must be at least 16 years of age to register.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Use the forgot password option on the login screen. Enter your registered email address and we will send you a reset link. Check your spam or junk folder if you do not receive it within a few minutes.
How do I change my username?
Go to Settings → Account in the app. You can update your username there. Usernames must be unique across the Platform. Your profile URL will update automatically to reflect the change.
How is my data protected?
SQUIDS is compliant with South Africa's POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act), the UK GDPR, and the Australian Privacy Act. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I report abuse or harmful content?
Use the report button on any post, comment, or profile within the app. For urgent safety matters, email support@squids.co.za with "URGENT" in the subject line. See our Community Guidelines: Reporting.
My account was suspended. How do I appeal?
Email support@squids.co.za within 14 days with the subject line "Appeal — [Your Username]". Provide your reasoning and any relevant context. All appeals are reviewed fairly. Note that bans issued for legal compliance reasons are not appealable.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Danger Zone in the app and select "Delete Account". This action is permanent and irreversible. Most personal data is deleted within 90 days of account closure per our Privacy Policy.
What is the minimum age to use SQUIDS?
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use SQUIDS in any capacity. There are no exceptions to this requirement — not with parental consent, not with guardian supervision. See Terms §4: Eligibility.
How do I submit a POPIA data request?
Email legal@squids.co.za with the subject "POPIA Data Request — [Your Username]". We respond within 30 days. UK users may also contact us for UK GDPR requests; Australian users for Privacy Act requests. See Privacy Policy §9.
Does SQUIDS have an AI chatbot?
No. SQUIDS does not operate an AI chatbot or any AI assistant feature for users. If you see anyone claiming otherwise, please report it. SQUIDS also does not endorse AI-generated content and may remove AI-generated posts at any time. See Terms §9.
Can I use SQUIDS in any language?
You may write posts in any language. The Platform user interface is in English only and does not support right-to-left text rendering at the interface level. Content in RTL languages will display left-to-right within SQUIDS. See Terms §7 for full details.
I was scammed by someone on SQUIDS. Can you help?
SQUIDS does not operate a private messaging feature and cannot assist with matters arising from private interactions. If you have been defrauded, please report it to your local police and banking institution. SQUIDS will cooperate with law enforcement where required by law. See Terms §15.
